Why are math facts important?
Understanding math facts is essential to being able to reliably and accurately solve more advanced levels of mathematics. Students must have a firm foundation and understanding of math facts, before they can excel in pre-algebra, algebra, and other forms of math.
Studies are suggesting we have a national math fact fluency crisis. Only 1 out of 10 (10%) college students can pass a simple, basic multiplication test.1 Math fact fluency is imperative to living a successful and productive life, as math is used in some form in every occupation and is useful in all areas of life.

What is Space Challenge?
Space Challenge is an online assessment that evaluates the player’s math fact fluency. You can learn more about it here.
How much does it cost?
Space Challenge is FREE. There is no charge to play or receive detailed reports by email.
How do I receive the reports?
In order to receive the reports, you first must register on our site and generate a teacher code. You give your code to your students and each time they complete the assessment and enter your code, you will receive an email detailing how they did on the assessment.
What information is included in the report?
The report includes their PPM (problems per minute), SPP (seconds per problem), score, overall rank at time of completion, and the list of facts they have mastered, hesitated on, and missed.
What is Countdown?
Countdown is a classroom tool that teachers use to help their students practice their math facts at the same time. Teachers use their whiteboard or a white screen to display the math facts to the class and then use the multi-sensory techniques to help students learn to master each one. If you would like to learn more about Countdown, click here.
What grades and students are best suited for Countdown?
Countdown is a classroom teaching tool that is best suited for students in Kindergarten to 6th grade, however, it can be used for any grade level, special education classes, or remedial classes that have a need for learning math facts.
It is designed for entire classroom instruction, enabling them to learn, practice, and be tested on math facts simultaneously using multi-sensory methods and teaching styles. Countdown aids in the instruction of students with a varying range of proficiency in math fact fluency, and does so in the most effective and efficient manner possible.
Although it can be used for individual learners or small groups, it is more effective in a classroom environment as it does not provide targeted, individualized practice.

How do teachers access school subscriptions?
When you add a school to your account, a unique link key will be generated for your school. Give your teachers the link key to the school and instruct them to create an account on our website at mathfactsmatter.com.
After they create an account, they will be able to enter the school’s link key from the Link a School page. All linked accounts will have access to your school’s product subscriptions. You can disable their access at any time from the Teachers management page.
Do I need a separate account for each school or for my personal use?
No, our system is designed to make registration quick and easy, with only one login. You can even use your Google or Facebook account to sign up!
If you are the administrator of one or more schools, you can add each school to your account and manage them all with only one login. You can also purchase personal subscriptions using the same account.
If you are a teacher working for one or more schools, you can link to each school’s account and access their subscriptions all with the same login. You can also purchase your own subscriptions with the same account. If you leave a school, you keep your account and only the link to the school is deleted.
How can I monitor who is using my school’s subscriptions?
School administrators are able to monitor the use of their school’s subscriptions from the Teachers management page.
Simply click on the school’s name to see all linked accounts and the usage statistics for each product subscription.
Only certain activities are logged. For example, for Countdown, the usage is logged if they have used the Practice or Test mode for an assignment.
