Countdown is a digital flashcard tool that is designed for classroom and individual practice. With Countdown, you create a mission for your students to practice, selecting a range of facts and spending a few minutes each day practicing them.
For the best results, practice should be conducted using the read, say, and write method. As each fact is presented, students should say the fact and write it down with the answer.
You can then quiz your students on the facts with the test mode of Countdown that will display the facts first without the answers, then will go through the facts to show the answers so students can correct their own work.
Countdown is best suited for grades K to 8. However, you can use it for higher grade levels, even adult learners as well.
We have bundled Countdown with our other programs. You can learn more about our bundled solution here.
Currently, Countdown does not require a login to access it from the student side.
For each mission you create, you can provide your students with a direct link to it or they can go to https://mathfactsmatter.com/countdown-viewer/ and put in the mission code to access the assignment.
If your students have an account to access Blast Off or Space Challenge, they can also get to Countdown using their account at PlayBlastOff.com. The Countdown link will take them to the screen where they will need to enter in the mission code.
To run Countdown all you need is a good internet connection and a modern web browser that is uptodate. There are no special downloads or system requirements beyond that. You can access and use Countdown from a computer, tablet, or phone.
For accessing the reports, we highly recommend accessing the reports from a computer so that they are easier to read, print, and export.
If you are wanting to conduct classroom practice with Countdown, we recommend either using a smartboard to display the mission to the class or using a projector.
